Competition for places on investment banks’ graduate programmes is intense. You’ll need an impeccable resume. You’ll need to be a brilliant all-rounder.  And you’ll need to prove your commitment to a financial services career with internships – lots of them.

As we reported last year, Haydn Pole, a student at the London School of Economics, has already notched up 11 internships – despite only being in the second year. However, it has come to our attention that Pole has a competitor. Shuaib Chowdhary, another second year student (this time at Cambridge University), also has 11 internships to his name.

So far, Chowdhary has interned at…Boston Consulting, Bain, McKinsey & Co, Barclays (investment bank) x2, Credit Suisse, Rothschild, RBS, EY, Morgan Stanley and Slaughter & May.  He’s also been campus ambassador for Citi.

As with Pole, most of Chowdhary’s internships are ‘spring weeks’ – lasting five days, or less. Unusually, however, he also completed a summer internship at Barclays despite being a first year. This was reportedly following his, “outstanding” performance on the bank’s spring programme.

This summer, Chowdhary will be interning at Goldman Sachs. Goldman is lucky: according to his LinkedIn profile, Chowdhary received offers from, ’10 investment banks across 40 desks.’

Chowdhary and Pole seem to be part of a trend: a sort of mega-student is applying for banking jobs in London. if you’re trying to get a summer internship in an investment bank and you don’t even know what a spring week is, you’re going to be at a serious disadvantage.
