Nomura is still hiring. Fresh from hiring a lot of senior traders earlier this month and firing a lot of senior traders in August, it’s continuing to add staff in London.
The latest addition is Leith Assouad, a managing director in equity derivatives from Citi who was previously a senior portfolio manager at Brevan Howard. Leith joined earlier this month, according to the FCA Register, and his profile on LinkedIn.
Nomura didn’t immediately comment on its latest recruit, but the hiring there doesn’t appear restricted to sales and trading. Chris Fincken, a senior M&A banker who was previously a director at Canaccord, has also joined. So has Marcel Kus, a former director at SocGen in Frankfurt.
Nomura’s equities sales and trading business did well in the most recent quarter. So did its M&A and capital markets businesses. On the other hand, fixed income sales and trading declined 11% – no guesses where the layoffs are.
