Brevan Howard has hired Morgan Stanley’s head of Asia fixed income research and credit strategy in another sign that the hedge fund is expanding again.

Vikor Hjort joined Brevan Howard as a strategist in Hong Kong, according to sources close to the situation. He joined during the summer after more than 15 years working for Morgan Stanley.

Last year, Brevan Howard lost a number of senior traders and portfolio managers following a period of underperformance. In 2014, Brevan Howard’s main $24bn fund made a 0.8% loss and staff churn became an issue. Even in recent weeks, the hedge fund has lost some employees – Vinay Pande, a partner, is set to leave along with volatility trader Morgan French and strategist Owen Job.

However, it’s been recruiting and increasingly targeting senior employees at investment banks. As well as Hjort, it has brought in Jezri Mohideen, who was formerly head of rates trading for Europe and Asia-Pacific at Royal Bank of Scotland.
