Not everyone who works in finance earns mega-bucks, but equally big pay packets are not restricted to revenue generating roles.
As regulators crackdown on bonuses and financial services organisations cut costs, securing a role that pays a biggish salary – while also offering a modicum of job security – is increasingly important. And getting there relatively quickly in your career is an added benefit.
We’ve pulled out the some of the best paying jobs outside of the front office where you can earn over $100k after five years, highlighted in the Robert Walters 2016 salary survey. The main message is this – work in compliance or risk.
Risk salaries have spiralled in recent years, and risk managers working in New York receive the biggest salaries. It’s possible to earn $300k working in the U.S. in both market and quantitative risk, the figures suggest. Comparable salaries in London are closer to $125-140k.
All figures have been converted from original local currency into US$ for ease of comparison.
