Malte Heininger has worked as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse as well as a junior portfolio manager at SAC Capital in London until earlier this year. All of this seems like a fairly standard and low-key career path – unlike his former glamorous vocation as a male model.
Now 32, Heininger secured a new gig as a fund manager at Carmignac Gestion in January, having been thrust out of SAC Capital in London, along with the rest of its staff following its closure in December, where he was a junior portfolio manager. He joined with three other equities staff from SAC, led by Muhammed Yesilhark. Here he is at his new employer:
Investment banks encourage their junior employees to embark on extra-curricular activities to set themselves apart from the legions of other applicants, but most of these have to be demonstrative of team-work and entrepreneurial spirit. Male model wasn’t, perhaps, what they had in mind, but it seems to have worked anyway.
Here are some shots of him in his former life.

SAC’s London office also employed people with some interesting backgrounds – albeit more conventional than Heininger’s. Paul Selvey-Clinton, who was unfortunate enough to be hired by SAC months before its closure as an analyst, is a former country cricket player for Essex and, of course, its London chief executive, Michael Ferucci, who was a Lacrosse star at Harvard.
